The Sonus Faber Concerto is all grown up. They’ve been fed and nurtured and an amazingly capable bookshelf speaker is now a tall, elegant floorstander with all the poise and control of a regal queen. We have never been bashful about our love of the Italian caskets of magic that are the Sonus Faber loudspeakers, and we are happy to say that the new Domus Concertos are worthy of daily embracing. For us, looks are always secondary to the sound, but the Concertos are beautiful on both counts. All that gorgeous timber and a gorgeous timbre!
They were impressive straight out of the box, but as we have played them over the past three months, they have become even more engaging and so sweet to the ears. Like all of their siblings in the Sonus range, they are not friendly with inferior components (and this is not based on price point) but catch them holding hands with the right amplifier and they’ll skip merrily down the garden path and take you along with them. And what a spectacular path it is!
You can ask Pete, one of our customers whose system has been going through a major transformation over the last six months. The last step to his path has been a pair of these new Concertos and what a step it has been. Such sweet sound! You know someone is loving their hi-fi when they are scouring the world for more music. You just want to hear everything. Thankfully Pete is remembering that while music is food for the soul, the body still needs to eat!
We’ll continue to travel down our garden path, sweet music in the ears and blissful grins on our faces. The garden of earthly delights has some very heavenly aspects! The Sonus Faber Domus Concertos are definitely one of them.
