Twelve years after their debut Lazy Smile, the roots-rock trio Wild Jester have released their second album BROTHER a raw and intimate collection of songs recorded in the final months of guitarist singer and producer Jesse Belfour's life.

The project began as an impromptu session between Jesse and longtime collaborator Greg Strong in Jesse’s Fernleigh studio, fuelled by friendship and a bottle of Dr. Rob’s single malt. It wasn’t long before Jesse said, “I want Roy involved.” And with that, vocalist and songwriter Roy Wilders entered the studio and the magic began.

The music came quickly, shaped by laughter, old stories, shared meals, and an instinctive musical synergy. Then came devastating news: Jesse had been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. A fundraising concert in January 2024 united the entire Northern Rivers music community, selling out in a show of overwhelming support. Jesse’s final weeks were spent doing what he loved, being with family and recording music with his closest friends.

Jesse passed on March 14, 2024. Brother, recorded and mixed entirely by him, stands as his final gift: a testament to love, creativity, and deep friendship.
